Father José Alvarez, Pastor of Epiphany Church and School since June of 2019, was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Miami on May 10, 2003. Prior to being assigned to Epiphany, he served as Parochial Vicar of St. Brendan Church from 2003 to 2004, Vice-Rector & Dean of Men of St. John Vianney College Seminary from 2004 to 2011, and Pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Church and School from 2011 to 2019. He was additionally assigned duties as President of St. Brendan High School from 2010 to 2015 and archdiocesan Dean and member of the Presbyteral Council from 2013 to 2019.  

Father Alvarez was born in Havana, Cuba and arrived in Miami at age six where he grew up and eventually graduated from Immaculata-LaSalle High School. After having completed undergraduate and graduate studies in Theater at Miami-Dade Community College, New York University, Florida International University and the University of Florida, and having worked as a professional actor on stage and film, Father Alvarez underwent a comprehensive career as an educator before entering priestly formation. His career as teacher and administrator in education encompasses having taught Physical Education, Music and Drama at Gulliver Academy from 1983 to 1985 and 1987 to 1989, Middle School Theology at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School from 1989 to 1994, and Theology at Immaculata-LaSalle High School from 1994 to 1997 all the while serving as the school’s Athletic Director. He has coached a variety of sports at the Middle School and High School levels, been a member of archdiocesan education committees, sub-committees and assigned supervision of archdiocesan educational institutions at the parochial, high school and college levels.

Ms. Ana Oliva, Principal of Epiphany Catholic School since June of 2018, was born and raised in Miami. After graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, she attended Florida International University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and a minor in Psychology. She completed graduate studies as well at Florida International University obtaining a Master of Science degree in Special Education. She further enhanced her professional development by procuring an Education Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership.

Since the start of her employment at Epiphany Catholic School in 1995, she has served the school in a multitude of capacities including those of Reading Lab Teacher, Standardized Testing Coordinator, Reading Room Teacher for Lower Grades, Vice-Principal during an eight-year period and present Principal. Her over twenty-five year period of service and commitment to Epiphany has provided her with an intimate, dedicated and gifted knowledge and passion for our school, its families and storied tradition.
